The Rye Arts Center excitedly presents its fourth exhibit in the series of Illustrated Storybooks for Children: The Magic of Storybook Animals: Original Illustrations for Children's Books about Animals," which will be on view at The RAC from October 2 - November 12, 2022. A grand opening on Sunday, October 2 (10am-4pm) will feature ongoing tours of the exhibit, workshops in creating paper animals; how an illustrator creates pictures; a movement workshop mimicking animal locomotion, and the appearance of live creatures from Animal Embassy. Artists will discuss their work as they demonstrate their skills on easels and sign books that are purchased at the exhibit. A concert and special memorial tributes will honor three illustrators whose works will be on view: Susan Jeffers, Ted Lewin, and Jerry Pinkney. Opening Day activities are free and open to the public. The last Saturday of the exhibit, November 5th, will bring back Animal Embassy to inspire a workshop session on sketching live animals; it will feature selected artists from the exhibit to present workshops related to the theme of "Storybook Animals."
